Located at an average altitude of 1225 m, Padis is a true karst plateau, almost flat, riddled with numerous sinkholes, some with lakes, others with clumps of spruce trees, through which the precipitation waters are drained which will then exit to daylight in the Ponor Glade through Izbucul Ponor or in the Boga Valley.

It is bounded to the north by Mount Măgura Vânata, to the west by Mount Boghii, to the east by Vârful Biserica Motului, and to the south by a series of low peaks (Tomasca, Rotunda, Rachita). On the hills around the ses, there are numerous fields of pine trees and forests.

In the part towards Magura Vânata there are numerous puddles where the rivers that descend from the slope get lost.
The western part of the sess is a plain full of small sinkholes, some with cloudy water due to the acidic soil. Here, under Mount Boghii, is the Padiș Civic Canton. Near the canton is a spring, the only source of drinking water in the area.

In the northern extremity of the sess, in the saddle that separates it from Poiana Varasoaia, there is Peștera Padiș, with the appearance of a descending gallery that penetrates under Mount Boghii. In the eastern part, the ses is fragmented by the Trânghiesti and Gârjoaba valleys, between them there is a plateau that gradually descends to the south, where Cabana Padiș is located.

The Cabana Padiș area is dominated by Vârful Biserica Motului (1,458 m), a special viewpoint, with wide perspectives on the entire plateau, the wooded slope of Mount Măgura Vânata and the “wall” Cârligate-Piatra Arsă.
